Established as a warehouse district in 1872, it’s been a destination for visitors, locals for lunch and suburbanites since the 1980’s. They flock to the friendly brick paved historic area for one-of-a-kind restaurants from Tex-Mex to Texas steaks, sing-a-longs at karaoke bars, museums and for handmade cowboy hats at the infamous Wild Bill’s. The dirt is currently flying with the addition of new residential amenities - handy for employees of the many professional businesses located there. Despite the eye rolling, there’s a soft spot for it by urban Dallasites who won’t admit to making a pilgrimage at least once a year, blending in with festival goers and sporting t-shirts that say “I Love Vaqueros Locos” (I love Crazy Cowboys)
