This district has it all. We just wish there was more of it. It’s comfortable and has easy access from Lakewood, M-Streets and Park Cities. Before Mockingbird Station on the northeast corner of Mockingbird and I-75 Central was built, the land was where the original Dr. Pepper plant was located. The mixed use development consists of an indie movie theater, shopping, restaurants, a mix of retailers and personal services, offices, apartments and a light rail. A hotel across the street on the southeast corner, is a fabulous mid-century that underwent a complete re-do. It is also home to excellent personal services, salons, restaurants and residences.

Drop off Textiles for Recycle and benefit Heart House Dallas

Dude, get rid of it! Did you know that 2.5 billion lbs. of textiles are recycled every year? If you want to be authentic Saturday, April 23rd, drop off clothes, shoes, belts, handbags, toys and stuffed animals, sheets and other gently owned soft goods between 10 am - 5 pm. We know it means spending a little time dealing with closets and drawers first, but The Earth will thank you - and it’s a drive-through.

Does Net Neutrality Loss = The New Ghetto

As a growing small media company owner, some of you know of my involvement in lobbying for Net Neutrality, which is the continued absence of regulation in regards to the Open Internet and something everyone should agree on and embrace. This critical issue will be decided, as called by FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski yesterday. In the grand scheme of things, this affects all of us so today I’m encouraging all of you to learn about and support Net Neutrality and to encourage the FCC Board, located below, to vote against a Tier System on the Open Internet on December 21, 2010.

VideoFest by the Video Association of Dallas

Lights.Camera.Action. The 23nd Annual VideoFest presented by the Dallas Video Association will be at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station beginning Thursday, September 23—26, 2010. The oldest and largest video and film festival in the nation, VideoFest shows a diverse range of works by regional, national and international video and film artists that are hard to find at the local video store, the movie theater or on Netflix. And because VideoFest is different than a traditional film festival or just going to a movie, expect something different! For the third year in a row, the VideoFest will be presented thru I-Tunes.

Will Ferrell Sunset Movie Series

Drown out your case of the Mondays with a good laugh the night before. Beginning Sunday, September 12, Central 214 features a different Will Ferrell movie each week. Seated on one of the chic outdoor couches in the courtyard with crab stuffed mushroom and your favorite cocktail in hand, you can do nothing but leave lighthearted to prepare for your busy week ahead.

Poolside Movie

Central 214 has updated the courtyard patio just in time for the summer Sunday night at the movies – and this week it’s Hairspray! Sing along with little Tracy Turnblad, who can dance like nobodies fool on the Corny Collins Show much to the dismay of Velma von Tussle. Laugh, fret and drool over hot Link Larkin along with Tracy and her best friend Penny Pingleton as they come of age with Motormouth Mabelle and her “do” attitude.
