Greenville Ave

Greenville Avenue comprised of lower, middle and upper (north of Mockingbird through and past Old Town) is loaded with restaurants, personal services, a smattering of boutiques and is home to the infamous St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  We were the first to say it, but we don’t mind repeating ourselves.  With the property values being what they are, just watch starting with lower Greenville for the increase of higher-end retail.  We believe it will become its own “miracle mile” of shopping – with an east Dallas flavor.  And it’s about time!

Junior Brown

Strikingly Deep Voice + Honky-Tonk Blues = Swingin’ Good Time

Growing up as the child of a guitar teacher, I listened to my fair share of the “classics” - Chet Atkins, Dick Dale, Les Paul, and many others. Junior Brown seems to channel them all.  A wizard guitar player in traditional country and Hawaiian steel styles, few of his performances will finish without some amazing blues playing and also a healthy swag of surf instrumentals. Inventor of the “guit-steel”, the love child between a Fender Telecaster and a lap steel, Brown’s homegrown blend of honky-tonk and Bakersfield country will have you singing along and craving a Lone Star.

Boho Fathers Day Brunch

Not normally open on Sunday, on Fathers Day, they will serve their full menu of dishes from around the world along with several unique egg dishes from 11 – 1 pm.

We immediately loved the vibe at the new Watel’s World Piece Café on our first visit.  The smell in particular which was a blend of spices, hand crafted decorations and the old building will smack you in the face in a good way.  Love the smell of college apartment memories – that and the boho décor from a collection of pieces Rene and his family have gathered from their travels all over the world gives the place a purple shade of haze inclusive of fabrics, blankets, pillows, delicious small plates and entrees, good conversation, wines, strong coffees and live music.

La What?

A few years ago when Karyn Pentecost opened her first fitness dance studio on Greenville and we told ourselves it was okay to learn the art pole and burlesque dance, we never dreamed Grandmothers would be the first to jump on and get in touch with their inner self.  Pentecost attributes this to not simply the pressure of staying beautiful, but saying to yourself, you know what?  I’ll never be a size 4 again and if I’m going to work hard at working out to stay healthy, why not learn something fun that also teaches me poise, confidence and getting in touch with my inner sexuality.
