TEDxSMU
As part of a partnership with TEDxSMU, twelve artists will display works at the SculptCAD Rapid Artists Sculpture Exhibition on Tuesday, September 14 in the One Arts Plaza lobby.
After having “explored the boundaries between sculpture and digital media”, on display will be the artists’ final creations. Each sculpture was created and produced using ground-breaking 3D printing processes in materials ranging from bronze to plastic.

It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Green opening Saturday, August 7, is local artist Joey Brock’s second mixed-media collection since the opening of brock studio gallery in early 2010. It advances his unique style of communicating the clash between urban and natural environments. Brock’s 13-piece series combines acrylic paint, conté crayon, pencil and paper on clayboard and canvas with found media such as rusty drill bits, sandpaper, stone, twine and glass for powerful statements about environmental corruption
Gabe Meadows @Back Beat Cafe
Originally from Atlanta by way of Washington DC where he performed regularly with the DuPont Hotel, Jazz vocalist and crooner Gabe Meadows has collaborated with jazz saxophonist Wynton Marsalis and Ella Fitzgerald’s long-time bassist Keeter Betts among others for more than 30 years.
Texas Sculpture Association Membership Exhibit
The list of artists participating in the Annual Membership Show for the Texas Sculpture Association being held at the aLoft Hotel reads like the Who’s Who in American Art. Fifty-eight artists will have 85 pieces of original artwork in a variety of sculpture media. Founded in 1983, the organization of members work to promote and exhibit sculpture shows and to develop the publics awareness of this art form who’s uniqueness mirrors each individual artist.

Artist Adam Raymont hosted pals Terrell James and Bo Joseph and the show Friday, the 4th at Barry Whistler Gallery is the enthusiastic inspiration of the adventures the Drei Freunde (three amigos) enjoyed while in Berlin last fall.

Market Street is the site for the 2nd Cinco de Mayo all ages event celebration Hispanic culture and in particular the unique blend of Tex-Mex heritage in the West End. It includes a Main Stage and Fiesta Stage.
14th Annual Asian Festival
With Lion dances, martial arts, henna painting, sumo wrestling and Japanese drums, the event showcase authentic Asian cuisine, cultural entertainment and activities for families in a daylong festival celebrating the National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
Pianist Ana Rodriguez
The Dallas Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon will host Cuban-born American pianist Ana Rodriguez in their final concert of this series. The chapter has brought complimentary programing like this one by local, state, national and internationally recognized artists uninterrupted since 1937.
Rodriguez, has performed extensively in concerts and recitals in Europe, Canada and the United States, in cities such as Boston, Miami, New York, Prague, and Rome. She has been presented in prestigious concert halls such as Steinway Hall, Merkin Concert Hall and Carnegie’s Recital Hall. Her innovative programming makes her popular with audiences and is commonly invited to return.

Marking the first vocal music event at Hamon Recital Hall and in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Robert Schumann’s birth, rarely-performed choral and solo piano works will be accompanied by dramatic readings from journals and over 20,000 letters exchanged between Robert Schumann, his wife Clara Wieck and Johannes Brahms which reveal an inseparable relationship between their personal lives and their musical genius.
