Crow Collection of Asian Art

2010 Flora Street Dallas, Texas

The Crow Collection contains more than 700 scrolls, paintings, objects of metal and stone, and large architectural pieces from China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia. Dallas real estate magnate Trammell Crow and his wife Margaret started collecting the asian art more than 30 years ago.  European masterpieces are found in Trammel Crow Center’s sculpture garden.

The Women's Museum

The Women’s Museum: An Institute for the Future is the nation’s first comprehensive museum dedicated to highlight women’s participation in shaping our nation’s history. The museum holds thousands of stories recounting women’s public and private triumphs and the political, social, and spiritual struggles of those who would be denied their freedoms.

Open Tuesdays through Sundays from noon until 5pm.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and teenagers (13-18) and $3 for children.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

411 Elm Street Dallas, Texas 75202

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza exhibits historic films, photographs, artifacts, and interpretive displays to document the events of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the findings of the official investigations that followed. The Museum currently has more than 22,000 items in its collections.

Open Tuesday through Sunday 10am until 6pm.  Open Mondays from noon to 6pm.

Tickets are $13.50 for adults; $12.50 for senior citizens and children 6-18.  Children under 6 are admitted free.

The Nasher Sculpture Center

Open since October 2003, the Nasher Sculpture Center is dedicated to the display and study of modern and contemporary sculpture.  The Center is located on a 2.4 acre site adjacent to the Dallas Museum of Art in the heart of the Dallas Arts District.  Its the realization of a longheld dream of the late Raymond and Patsy Nasher, who together formed one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculpture in the world including works by by Calder, Matisse, Miro, Moore, Picasso, Rodin, and Serra, among others. The Nasher Sculpture Center presents rotating exhibitions of works from the Nasher Collection as well as special exhibitions drawn from other museums and private collections.  In addition to indoor gallery space and outdoor Garden, the Center contains an auditorium, education and research facilities, a cafe, and a store.

The McKinney Avenue Contemporary Museum- The MAC

Located in the former Potts Longhorn Leather Company’s 18,000 square foot building, the MAC is the first venue in North Texas dedicated to presenting contemporary visual and performing art as well as lecture series. The royal blue painted MAC was founded in 1994 and houses productions of the Kitchen Dog Theater.

Dallas Heritage Village at Old City

Take a trip to Old City Park-Dallas’ first park.  The 13-acres are home to Heritage Village, a “living history” museum complete with costumed characters in 38 restored 19th century buildings where you can see what Dallas life was like between 1840 and 1910. Our hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM, Sunday, Noon to 4 PM.Ticket prices vary from 5 to 7 dollars.Closed on major holidays.

Museum of the American Railroad

The Museum of the American Railroad houses a complete pre World War II passenger train. The museum has recently added a collection of postwar lightweight passenger equipment. You can see steam, diesel and electric locomotives, cabooses, historic structures, signals and a steam calliope and whistle display.

Museum of Nature and Science

A Smithsonian Affiliate, the Museum of Nature and Science is to inspire nature, science and technology inquiry in children of all ages. The non-profit Museum features education, exhibition and research and collections programming for students, teachers, families and life-long learners. The facility features an extensive exhibition of Texas wildlife habitats, the TI Founders IMAX Theater and a cutting-edge digital planetarium. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science opens next to Victory Park in 2013.

Juanita Craft Civil Rights House

Juanita Craft (1902-1985) was the first African-American woman to vote in Dallas, the first African-American woman City Council member and played a key role in integrating two local universities, the Texas State Fair and many of Dallas’ restaurants and hotels. The House displays memorabilia honoring Ms. Craft’s leadership and participation in the Civil Rights movement.

Dallas Museum of Art

Founded in 1903, the I. M. Pei-designed Dallas Museum of Art contains international art, especially from the Americas, Asia, Pacific Islands and Africa-including 400 pieces of Egyptian and Nubian art. The museum features programs ranging from exhibitions and lectures to concerts, literary readings, dramatic and dance presentations, and a full spectrum of happenings designed to engage everyone.
